Multidisciplinary care is essential for clients struggling with eating disorder symptoms, but especially for clients with co-occurring trauma or mental health diagnoses. This presentation will examine through case studies, how therapists and dietitians can successfully work as a team with clients with multiple diagnoses.

    Objectives of the Presentation:

    • Recognize connections between eating disorder symptoms and behaviors and co-occurring trauma and mental health symptoms.
    • Identify the benefits and goals of a collaborative therapist/dietitian treatment team.
    • Formulate and implement integrated treatment plan with therapist, dietitian and client in processing and exposure therapies.
    • Examine specific successes, challenges, and lessons through case studies of clients with co-occurring disorders, such as: identifying whether it’s a fear food or a trauma trigger, co-facilitating individual and family sessions, supporting processing, and reinforcing coping skills.
