    HIV Continuing Education for Professionals

    Location:  MHANKYSWOH 912 Scott Street, Covington, KY 41011

    Presenter: Bob Ford, M. Ed., Health Educator II, Northern Kentucky Health Department

    This course is designed to provide professionals with a basic understanding of the epidemiology of HIV infection, methods of transmission, prevention, and treatment. Other topics addressed include management of HIV consistent with OSHA standards, legal issues, and appropriate attitudes and behavior toward persons living with HIV/AIDS, and services available in the region. Participants will be able to define HIV, AIDS, and HIV Disease as measured by pre/post testing; indentify fluids, routes of HIV transmission and strategies to reduce transmission/acquisition of HIV; learn about the epidemiology of HIV Disease including stages, treatment, basic statistics and the impact of HIV on specific segments of our society; and learn strategies to address HIV in their communities. Course content is meeting the continuing education license renewal requirements outlined in 201 KAR 23:075; Section 2 (4). KY Board of Social Work Continuing education sponsorship number KBSW-SP116. Focus areas: Counseling Social/Cultural Finds, SW Practice for Special Populations. Course content aimed at Social Workers seeking all instructional levels. 2 hours credit approval for session.
