Today, 1 in 5 people experience mental illness and First Responders need to know what to do and what not to do when responding to mental health related calls.

Mental Health First Aid is a course that teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. The training gives you  actionable skills  to deescalate a crisis situation and also to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem.

Through generous funding from the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, the costs for this impactful training is covered if you are a fire fighter, EMS, Jail staff, police officer, or dispatcher working or living in Ohio.  Following 2 hours of PreWork on your own, you apply what you learned working with your peers in a virtual classroom led by 2 certified MHFA Instructors.
