SBIRT Ohio Training Officer Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services Speaker will provide participants with an overview of the spirit of Motivational Interviewing and build on the skills learned in the prior workshop. The speaker will engage participants in actively understanding and practicing the foundational skills of Motivational Interviewing including Open Questions, Affirmations, Reflections, and Summaries. The speaker will also assist participants in recognizing change talk and identifying sustain talk. Participants will be able to enhance their interactions with clients and patients around behavior change upon completion of the training. Training will include tools to develop discrepancies and amplify ambivalence. Learn to identify and use open questions, affirmations, reflections and summaries. Recognize change talk that expresses the patient’s desire, ability, reasons, need or commitment to change . Describe the four elements of the spirit of Motivational Interviewing. Identify those skills that are most applicable to their role. Correctly use decisional balance and ambivalence amplification tools.
